Religious Education 3 is the third course of the Theology Program. It introduces learners to the basics of Catholic morality in relation to the vast moral upheavals facing the Philippines and the world of large. The course introduces learners to theological anthropology that seeks to present the fundamental subjective factors of morality as freedom and conscience, in light of the reality of sin. These subjective factors are then understood in light of the objective factors of the commandments in sacred scriptures, and the guidance of church teaching. Ultimately, the course hopes to guide learners in their own personal discernment of moral decision making, discipleship and commitment.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
1. Sketch a theological anthropology that presents the subjective factors of morality, in light of freedom, conscience and the reality of sin
2. Relate these subjective factors to the objective factors of morality, namely the Commandments, as found in Sacred Scripture and the development in moral theology in Sacred Tradition.
3. Develop a process of decision- making that hopes to form the learners into committed disciples of Christ in light of contemporary global and local issues in the learner’s human experience.
